Scrappy Pineapple Quilt

This is probably the most colorful quilt I have done, to date! It's a fun mix of applique, half square triangles, and strips (find the pattern here!!). A little backstory here...a customer reached out to me a few years ago about a Hawaiian quilt for her daughter. They had lived in Hawaii for several years and she had been collecting fabric for a decade to one day make her something special. So, she sent me a HUGE box of fabric that even included clothing from loved ones. A big beautiful quilt was created for her, and would you believe I had enough fabric to make two more quilts? So next up...was a scrappy quilt for herself!

I love love love sewing together log cabin-type blocks! Not sure why...but I do. After cutting out tons of scraps, I got to play around with fussy cutting these pineapples. The pattern give you templates for the leaves and pineapple shape. This is perhaps the longest part- cutting the leaves and arranging them all. After this part, the quilt comes together quickly!

I free motion quilted over the pineapples to mimic their shape. Then, I did an all-over meandering line along the background. Lastly, I used my walking foot to walk around the border.

Years of fabric saving in one quilt!
